He went on to describe Mangold as “more than just a teammate,” calling him a “big brother, role model, friend, and confidant.”

Sanchez’s tribute comes hours after the Jets announced that Mangold died Saturday night due to complications from kidney disease.
Two weeks ago, Mangold revealed on social media that he was battling the disease and needed a kidney transplant. With no relatives able to donate, he put out a public appeal for type O blood donors.

According to a police affidavit, a 69-year-old driver known as “PT” said Sanchez, who appeared intoxicated, tried to enter his truck while he was collecting used cooking oil outside a hotel.
The confrontation escalated when PT, fearing for his life, pepper-sprayed Sanchez and stabbed him “two or three times,” claiming Sanchez hit him into a dumpster. Both men were taken to the hospital, and in a lawsuit filed by the victim against Sanchez, he claimed his injuries disfigured him.
