The US IPO market in 2025 was relatively crowded, with plenty of household names going public, including Klarna, eToro, and Chime. But as you can see from that brief list, many of the most closely watched IPOs this year were fintech companies.
In a change of pace, a company operating in the aviation sector is expected to make its market debut today. Here’s what you need to know about Beta Technologies and its IPO:
What are beta technologies?
Beta Technologies is an aerospace company specializing in electric aircraft, electric charging systems and electric propulsion systems.
The company was founded in 2017 by pilot and engineer Kyle Clark, who is Beta’s current CEO. It is based in South Burlington, Vermont.
Regarding aircraft, the company has developed two electric cars.
The first is a conventional fixed-wing electric aircraft for take-off and landing (CTOL). This aircraft uses a traditional runway for take-off and landing.
The second is an electric vehicle with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). This aircraft uses rotating propellers to take off vertically. Both CTOL and VTOL versions of electric aircraft are known as Alia.
Beta says its Alia aircraft have now traveled more than 83,000 nautical miles on flights across the United States.
