What are you doing this weekend? We’re hosting a Halloween gathering tonight – the boys are hanging bats all over our house! – And on Sunday, we’ll be cheering at the New York Marathon. (Are there any CoJ readers out there?) I hope you have a good one, here are some links from around the web…

The “exotic” pieces in these puzzles are made in Maine amazing. “The whimsical pieces are pieces that look like objects or animals… If you’re doing a puzzle of a beautiful Italian landscape, you might also have a piece shaped like a wine glass or a sailboat… One of my favorites is a woman who was commissioned to make a giant puzzle to commemorate her first novel. So, we did a puzzle for the cover of the book but incorporated all these whimsical pieces that spoke to the characters and the plot.”
Have you listened to Lily Allen’s new album?A play about her open marriage and divorce from actor David Harbour? I felt like I was catching up with an old friend, my jaw on the floor! “Best gossip session of my life,” my friend Alison said.

Plus three reader comments:
“When I was in eighth grade in Korea, I went through a period of extreme isolation,” S. Lee says of teaching children emotional regulation. “I was completely alone, without friends, and it was a very difficult time in my young life. One day, during lunch, I went to a pay phone (this was the late 1990s) and called my mother. I didn’t say much, just that it was a particularly difficult day. An hour later, the class teacher came to ask me to pack my bag. My mother picked me up from home. “We went straight to the train station and took the next train from Seoul and we stayed as soon as we left the city. There was a small river, and we went hiking in the mountains and had dinner at a local restaurant. She didn’t ask me what was wrong, we spent the day together, walking and talking. That day gave me the strength to live through the year.”
“Kathryn, it’s a good thing we don’t have your number, because the number of heart emojis and caring texts we’d be beaming your way would be too many. Instead, know that the entire CoJ community is carrying you along in our own way. Big hug, Katherine. Big hug,” Olivia Jayne says of Katherine Newman’s health piece.
“I’ve never related so much to a creature as I do to Freddie being a regular dog,” Jo says of the lovely gift.
