“Do you ever think about a Monday update?” A reader named Molly commented last week. “This could serve as a little sequel to your ‘have a great weekend’ posts. I’m always curious about how the party went, what dress you chose, what the play/movie was like, etc. It would be a fun way to transition into the week.”
What a sweet note! And I love hearing about other people’s weekends too. So, let’s catch up a little, if you’re in the mood. How was your weekend? Did you celebrate Thanksgiving? Are you watching any good shows or reading any good books? I’ll go first…

My dad came to visit (the boys were visiting Alex’s side of the family), and it felt so special to have some one-on-one time, which we hadn’t had much of since before the boys were born. For Thanksgiving dinner, we traveled to spend some time with Freddie’s family.

We solved the New Yorker’s crossword puzzle on the way…

…and brought a bag full of sweets – Fun puzzle For Freddie’s sister, luxury hand lotion for his mother, Italian wine for his father, and Best book This year I read Freddie’s. I also wrapped gifts John Derian wrapping paperwhich comes with gift cards and is pretty cool!

It was a lovely evening – here, Freddie and I headed out for a quick walk before we all sat down to dinner – and we also played football, played with the kids and ate the most delicious creamy green beans. I always find it fun and wonderful to join another family for Thanksgiving because people have specific recipes and traditions. Side note: Why don’t we eat pumpkin pie all year round??

My aunts – Janie and Lulu – sent pictures of their celebration in England as well. How cute are they? Are you interested in Janie’s beauty outfit? (It was really fun to put together Lulu 🙂

Once we got home, my father and I watched reruns of Frasier, as one does. My mom always says that Daphne reminds her of her mom, and since her mom died when I was two, I love watching the show and thinking about what she was like.

My dad also balanced my tires (I didn’t know that was a thing) and helped me update the picture wall in our living room. Every couple of years, I try to share pictures of the boys at their current ages, so it doesn’t look like a shrine to their younger selves!

One evening, we had friends over for a snack, and my friend’s son showed off his magic tricks. How cute are grandparents?

Whenever we have a house full of people, I think of Katherine Newman’s home tour. “The Pabna area is chaotic,” she says. “When I saw This poster At a friend’s house, it got me thinking, Well, this mess is a value, not a liability.“

Speaking of Katherine Newman, She gave her daughter that LL bean bag With these monogrammed letters “just to make her laugh.” Made me laugh too!

Finally, after my father headed home to Michigan, I had a few hours to myself, and paid a visit John Derian store I was impressed with the cakes From Lucy. Life has had some ups and downs lately, so this weekend felt like a tonic. Now I can’t wait for the boys to come home – I’m always relieved when the chicks are back in the nest!!!

Now, please tell me, if you’d like, about your weekend – the highs, the lows, anything you’d like to share. Much love, as always. xoxo
