Die hard Imitators are as old as they are Die hard In and of itself, there is always room to take a fresh look at this tried and true hypothesis. 2013 The White House falls He brings all the familiar tropes to the Oval Office, pulling national security into the mix while politically charged chaos takes center stage. We have corruption at the highest levels, nuclear launch codes hanging in the balance, a slightly shameless opera-loving hacker, and yes, a white nationalist mercenary with a menacing mustache who looks like he listens to Pantera 24/7 while bombing Schlitz in his pickup truck with truck nuts on his way to overthrowing the government.

And most importantly, The White House falls Our hero, Channing Tatum, introduces us to John Cale, an Afghanistan veteran with the skills and heart to match. His mission is twofold: save the president’s life and save his daughter, all while proving that he’s got what it takes to get a job that doesn’t involve parking.
Greetings to the president

since The White House falls It’s a Roland Emmerich film, and you can safely assume the irreplaceable artifacts, priceless architecture, and anyone carrying a firearm will all see their fair share of action and destruction. When former Delta Force Captain Emil Steins (Jason Clarke) sneaks into the White House during a tour and takes everyone hostage, Cal steps up because why wouldn’t he? The terrorists are pursuing President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx), and Cal must fight his way through the wreckage to rescue him while his daughter Emily (Joey King) is among the hostages.

Adding to the tension, Kyle is being supervised by Deputy Special Agent in Charge Carol Wilkes Finnerty (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who suspects he’s Secret Service material but needs someone to neutralize the situation. Along the way, he meets Martin Walker (James Woods), a special agent days away from retirement who may not be the ally he seems, and a handful of his gun-toting henchmen, including the gun-toting and armed-to-the-teeth Carl Killick (Kevin Rankin).

Even Donnie Donaldson (Nicholas Wright), the uptight White House tour guide who knows the lay of the land, gets swept up in the action, trying to help however he can. Meanwhile, hacker Skip Tyler (Jimmy Simpson) is busy breaking into the Presidential Emergency Operations Center (I’m here!) while trying to access NORAD’s entire arsenal of laser-guided warheads.
Cal doesn’t know how deep the conspiracy goes, but his mission is clear: save his daughter, protect the President, and maybe walk away with a little respect as a college dropout turned veteran Capitol officer.
Apparently, you can save the day with witty banter

I’ll be the first to admit The White House falls The film drags on for a long time, but is worth the runtime thanks to the strong chemistry between Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx. Their partnership turns what could have been a bleak thriller into a borderline buddy comedy, especially when the President straps on his Air Jordans, grabs a rocket launcher, and helps Cale open the gates so they can escape in the presidential limousine. It’s crazy but successful, as he races against the Zero Hour trope to prevent chaos from spreading outside the capital before it’s too late.

Just when you think everything could explode, it does. The White House falls Prove you wrong. Donnie the tour guide tries to track down collateral damage, though I doubt the White House insurance plan covers Ming vases gifted by Queen Elizabeth II. The only thing I know for sure is that their premiums will go up after this.
None of this is possible, but who cares?

If you are watching The White House falls For realism, you’re watching the wrong movie. A small army of mercenaries disguised as cleaners infiltrate the most secure building in the world and it’s the kind of setup that requires suspension of disbelief. I tried wearing a high-visibility jacket to get into a party parking lot once and it didn’t work, but these guys managed to break into the White House in broad daylight. Fortunately, the movie gets its preposterous setup out of the way early so you can enjoy the fireworks without thinking about it too much.

Nothing about it The White House falls Logical, that’s part of his charm. It’s pure wish fulfillment for anyone who swears that a good guy with a gun can fix anything. Honestly, I’m okay with that. This movie doesn’t pretend to be anything else. The $150 million budget went on fire amazingly, and my eardrums (don’t watch this video with headphones) are still recovering.
The White House falls It is streaming on Netflix.
