According to insiders in the royal family, the former Duke of York’s jealousy towards the Princess of Wales has strained family relations.
Prince William, who is said to view his deposed uncle, Andrew, as a burden on the monarchy, has also backed efforts to expel him from the Royal Lodge amid the removal of his titles.

Prince Andrew’s envy of Kate Middleton caused a clash with Prince William
Kate’s continued rise as one of the most admired figures in the British royal family is said to have caused friction between William and his uncle Andrew.
According to several royal insiders they spoke to Fox News Digital, The disgraced former duke became increasingly resentful of Kate’s growing popularity and her image as a humble royal devoted to her family.
Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich revealed that the tension largely stemmed from Andrew’s envy and “offensive remarks” about the Princess of Wales.
“Prince William was angry,” Fordwich explained. “Because he was so protective, he instituted a zero-tolerance policy towards any wayward behavior or scandals involving Prince Andoro.”

Before Andrew announced on October 17 that he would give up the title of Duke of York, reports suggested that his relationship with William had already been strained for years, with Kate at the center of tension between them.
In the 2024 column for Daily Mailroyal editor-at-large Richard Kay revealed that William and Andrew had clashed over Andrew’s scandals and his attitude towards Kate.
“William has always held a grudge against Andrew because he was not welcome when he first introduced Kate Middleton to the Royal Family,” Kay wrote, adding that the Prince of Wales also believes King Charles was too lenient with his brother.

A new biography details the alleged feud between Prince Andrew and Prince William
In August, Andrew became the focus of an unauthorized biography by British writer Andrew Looney, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York.
The book claims that at one point, Andrew behaved rudely towards Kate, an incident that sparked a long-running rift between him and William.
The author also suggested that Andrew’s attitude toward Kate may have stemmed from elitism, noting, “My source said Andrew was rude to Kate. I think he may have been rude because he’s a real snob. Maybe he felt Kate wasn’t aristocratic enough to marry William.”
He added that Kate’s grace and steady image earned her global respect, describing her as “the savior of the royal family.”

Looney also claimed that Andrew’s jealousy extends beyond Kate to William himself, saying: “Andrew is jealous of people. He’s probably jealous of William’s popularity. But I know that when William comes to the throne, Andrew will be dust.”

Prince William is reportedly planning to cut Prince Andrew’s ties to royal life once he becomes king
Now, new reports suggest that tensions are likely to escalate once William becomes king.
According to Roya Nikha, the royal editor of Sunday TimesWilliam is expected to be “more ruthless” about his uncle’s future role in the monarchy when he becomes king.
On 18 October, Nickah reported that Buckingham Palace had confirmed that William had been “consulted” about Andrew’s decision to relinquish his title as Duke of York, but noted that the heir to the throne was “unsatisfied with the outcome”.
“When William becomes king, Andrew will be banned from all elements of royal life,” she wrote. He added: “He will be excluded from public and private royal events, including coronations, and will be banned from most official events.”
Reports also suggest that William is planning to extend the same restrictions to include Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, 66.

The experts’ claims came shortly before Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew had been stripped of his “prince” title.
Not only that, but his lease on the Royal Lodge, which was supposed to run until 2078, was quickly terminated, meaning Andrew will officially vacate the property.
“His Majesty today began a formal process to remove the title, titles and honors of Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” the statement read. CNN.
