Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s home is still on the market
DeGeneres and her wife De Rossi are still struggling to unload their former Cotswolds mansion, five months after it was put up for sale.
Before their move to the UK last November, the comedian and “Arrested Development” star bought the property for £15 million ($19.8 million), hoping to move somewhere stress-free and quickly settle into British life.
However, their hopes were dashed when Storm Bert hit the UK, causing a nearby river to collapse and flood their property.
According to Daily Mailthe Oxfordshire mansion, which they listed in July 2025 for £22.5 million ($29.7 million), remained unsold.

Couple is listing their home at a ‘pretty crazy price’

Aside from the ongoing flooding, the difficulty DeGeneres and de Rossi are having in selling the property could be due in part to the asking price.
A real estate agent previously told the media that the listing was at a “pretty crazy price,” noting that the former TV host bought it for £2.5 million ($3.3 million) over the £12.5 million ($16.5 million) asking price, meaning its cost had increased by £10 million ($13.2 million) in the past year.
They have since moved to a spacious mansion on higher ground where de Rossi can care for her animals.
“When we decided to live here full time, we knew that Portia couldn’t live without her horses,” DeGeneres said of their choice of home. “We needed a house that had a facility for the horses and pastures for them.”

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are planning to return to the United States

The couple are said to be planning to return to the United States due to the extremely low temperatures that British winters bring.
When they first left the United States for life, DeGeneres and de Rossi looked like they would never return in the near future, especially as they cited the country’s political climate following President Donald Trump’s victory at the polls.
However, reports claim that they are now looking forward to returning to California as they “miss their friends” and are looking forward to reuniting with them over the holiday season, on top of the fact that they cannot live through another Cotswolds winter.

A source said: “Eileen was adamant that she and Portia would stay in the UK while Trump was in the White House, but she has clearly changed her mind somewhat.”
They continued: “She’s been telling her friends that they’re going home soon because they miss them and can’t spend the winter there, and Portia wants to act again. They’ll be here for the holidays longer because of the sound of that.”
The couple shares snapshots of their daily activities on Instagram
DeGeneres and her wife seem to have settled into their lives away from the spotlight, but they often share photos and videos of their daily activities on Instagram.
They have been spotted in local pubs, including The Farmer’s Dog in Burford, owned by Jeremy Clarkson, and The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, Oxfordshire.
They moved to the UK after accusations that the talk show host fostered a toxic work environment on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

“One time, they asked to sit at the corner table because it was supposedly more private,” he said, adding of DeGeneres: “Everyone knows who she is, but they don’t bother her.”
“(Ellen) is so sweet and so humble,” they added. “It’s a small village, and of course everyone is gossiping, but I haven’t heard a single bad thing.”
