Gayle King was reportedly planning to leave CBS

News of King’s tenuous future at CBS comes barely five months after The Blast reported that the TV host was already planning to step away from the network. According to the report, one person familiar with the situation said that 2025 “could be Gayle’s last year.”
Another source speculated on why King was planning to leave CBS, stating that she did not want to be part of the “chaos” there, with its declining ratings and ongoing scandals.
The source said: “She didn’t participate in this mess. It’s over. She’s still one of the most respected names in the news, and she’s being dragged into the chaos she can’t control.”

Gayle King was unhappy when changes were made to her show’s location

King’s frustrations with CBS also extended beyond the network’s legal problems and scandals. She was reportedly unhappy when her show was moved from Times Square Studio to the CBS Broadcast Center.
A source said the journalist was “angry” about the website change and viewed it as a “personal attack”, as the website changes were not included in the one-year extension deal she signed with the network.
The source also added that the TV personality has “made it very clear” that she “will not be pushed into a dingy little room. She expects the same level of comfort and prestige that she had at 1515 Broadway. No exceptions.”

Months after King’s dissatisfaction with CBS became public, President Donald Trump publicly attacked her and her career verbally on social media.
According to The Blast, Trump shared a post on his Truth Social Platform in August that said: “Gayle King’s career is over. She should have stuck with her faith in Trump. She didn’t have the courage to do that.”
The president also criticized the TV presenter, writing that she lacks talent and strength. He also reposted an article claiming her job at CBS was on shaky ground.
