Towering palm trees. Hand painted tiles. Silence you can actually hear. And the warmer pool, which is not officially called a “hot tub.”

Tropicana Los Cabos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton It is located right off Plaza Mijares in the historic center of Los Cabos (the quieter and more culturally advanced Cabo – just down the road from Cabo San Lucas). This means you can swim in town and then return to the pool to lie down in about ten steps.

Exhibitions and cafes at your doorstep; The beaches and bird-rich estuary are close enough for you to enjoy them in the morning. The property was newly remodeled in 2024 as a 70-room boutique – two restaurants, two bars, a heated pool and a mini wellness program with yoga, Tibetan singing bowls and massage.

Why is it cool?

You can have the city and tranquility in the same frame. The hotel’s farmhouse bones face the interior to a leafy courtyard and heated pool. Step outside and you’ll find yourself in the Arts District network – Obregon, Morelos and Guerrero – where the Art Walk takes place on Thursday nights from November to June. It’s the right base if you want the human-sized streets of San Jose plus an easy drive to the best beaches in the Cabo Corridor.

And the surrounding nature is in abundance, too: Estero San José (the city’s protected estuary and bird sanctuary) is a simple addition to your day – a quiet stroll or a short jaunt from the plaza – with its boardwalk trails and legitimate bird watching. Surfy Costa Azul and swimmable Palmilla are on the coast when you crave sand and sea.

And if you want to party – this can certainly be found in the area: whether in Los Cabos or in some of the adults-only hotels on the beachfront.

Cocina de Las Californias – The signature room leans “farm to table” and cooks with California’s culinary heritage; Think regional sources and a menu built to last. The service is warm and the entire menu is cleverly conceived. Don’t you dare miss the cocktail program or the rich desserts.

El Patio – Baja’s Mediterranean terrace Built around wheat, wine, olive oil and the catch of the day, it’s the outdoor spot you’ll naturally gravitate to before taking an artistic stroll.

Trópico (Pool Cantina) – The patio bar channels an old Tropicana Cantina vibe – classic cocktails (Piña Colada, Black Manhattan, “Acapulco”) with homely touches and poolside ease for a first or last drink. We also enjoyed fun cooking classes here that came free (for hotel guests).

Start at Plaza Mijares, then drive a block or two to the Galleries (Obregón/Morelos/Guerrero/Comonfort). On Thursdays (November-June), the “Art Walk” spills out into the streets with open studios and glass pouring energy. If you want nature, aim for Estero San Jose’s trails for golden hour birds and a reed-lined path – it’s just a short walk from the city centre.
